Project Equity Updates

February 22, 2024

From the Equity Officer’s Desk

Project Equity kicked off the year with a focus on equity, hosting two essential trainings for Monroe and Pike County nonprofits.

The first training, LGBTQ+ led by Bradbury Sullivan LGBT Center, centered on introducing inclusive language and practical actions to support the LGBTQ+ community. A resounding success, it drew 55 attendees, representing 22 nonprofits, government agencies, and school districts. The second session, Fundraising Effectiveness, led by Chris Barger, @FundraiserChad, Chief Trainer & Coach/Owner, Productive Fundraising, aimed to enhance fundraising skills for nonprofits’ boards and staff. This in-person training at Northampton Community College Monroe Campus attracted 30 attendees from 13 nonprofits.

Continuing the Mission…

In line with Project Equity’s commitment to enhance nonprofit capabilities and foster Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Pocono Mountains United Way sponsored 10 nonprofits for free access to the Human Resources Certification Institute’s (HRCI) Diversity & Inclusion in Human Resource Management Certificate course. This opportunity, extended to the most engaged nonprofits through Project Equity, allowed organizations to designate a staff or board member to complete the certificate. The course equips participants with the foundation to create a workplace that values all employees, promotes equal opportunities, supports career growth, and ensures fair compensation.
