Generation Next Wraps Up Another Year

June 18, 2026

Since 2022, Pocono Mountains United Way’s Generation Next program has been helping local students grow into confident young leaders while preparing them for life after high school. It helps to build confidence, leadership skills, and a stronger vision for their future.

The 2025-2026 school year saw new highs in every way for Generation Next. The program had 82 students participate, a huge increase from previous years, including 17 seniors who graduated in the spring. Students also had the ability to visit more colleges than ever before, totaling 9 visited throughout the year.

The most exciting aspect of this year is that this group of graduating seniors was our first group of students that participated in Generation Next throughout their time at Pocono Mountain West High School!

We’re more than excited to see what’s in store for the students who participated and couldn’t be more grateful to continue this amazing program in 2026-2027.

Quotes from Generation Next Graduating Seniors:

“Generation Next has really guided me through high school and helped me in my struggle through school. It guided me through the college process and taught me many things I didn’t know as a first gen student.”

“I enjoyed all of the help and guidance that I couldn’t get anywhere else.”

“I really enjoyed and loved the program! I don’t think I could’ve done this without you guys.”

“This program really is such an amazing one to have and you know if you need anything you have two mentors in your corner willing to help.”

About Generation Next

Generation Next has quickly become a highly sought-after opportunity for students attending Pocono Mountain West High School.

Students meet weekly where they participate in curriculum-based sessions focused on personal growth, college and career readiness, mentorship, and life skills development. Students also learn an array of necessary life skills to prepare for life after high school, including time management, financial literacy, mental health awareness, how to build healthy relationships, and career exploration.
