Pocono Mountains United Way is partnering with NeighborWorks Northeastern PA to provide this FREE course that gives participants a full view of the homebuying process, not just how to search for a house.

Participants will learn from a certified housing counselor as well as other experts in the field including real estate agents, home inspectors, and home insurance agents to see the entire picture of buying a home. The course will also review the following topics that will help them navigate the process:

• Mortgage Qualifications
• Homeowners Insurance
• Home Inspections
• Closing Process & more!

After taking the course, participants will meet training requirements for assistance programs and reduced cost loans that require homebuyer education.

Participants can also choose to work with Neighborworks after the workshop on a one-on-one counseling path that could help them clean up their credit, locate downpayment assistance programs, and answers their homebuyer questions beyond the workshop.

Workshops will take place this fall on October 18, 2025 from 10:00am to 4:00pm at the offices of the Pocono Mountains Association of Realtors in Stroudsburg, as well as November 1, 2025 from 10:00am to 4:00pm at the Middle Smithfield Cultural center in East Stroudsburg. Flyers for each workshop are below.
