Pocono Mountains United Way: Bridging the Gap for School Supplies

Pocono Mountains United Way is committed to ensuring every Monroe County student has the tools they need to succeed in school. That’s why we run an annual backpack distribution program in partnership with local agencies.

Here’s how it works:

• We partner with non-profit and government agencies who work directly with families & students.
• We fundraise throughout the year to cover the cost of backpacks and school supplies.
• Agencies let us know how many backpacks they need for their students.
• We distribute the backpacks to the agencies for them to get directly to the students.

Our program has grown significantly since its inception!

• In 2021, we provided 250 backpacks.
• In 2022, that number jumped to 500.
• In 2023, thanks to your support, we distributed an incredible 3,000+ backpacks!
• In 2024 and beyond… the sky is the limit!

While we do not distribute backpacks directly to the public through this program, our partner agencies will be hosting distribution events throughout the County!
