Cultural Humility Trainings

April 15, 2021

Pocono Mountains United Way is proud to partner with Community Action Committee of the Lehigh Valley’s Color Outside the Lines initiative to host Cultural Humility, a four-day virtual training series.

These trainings, which take place in 2-hour sessions over the course of 4 days, create a space to discuss a variety of topics related to cultural humility: from cultural sensitivities in the workplace and personal spheres, stereotypes, micro aggressionssocietal portrayals of communities of color, and much more. Trained facilitators create an inclusive and safe environment for participants to learn and engage with these issues that impact our everyday lives.

The trainings are interactive, in which participants are encouraged to watch short videos or read excepts and prompts, allowing them to reflect on their own experiences regarding race and culture, as well as view these issues from other points of view. Breakout sessions comprising of subgroups of the participants allow attendees to share thoughtful exchanges about the material reviewed in the trainings.

The virtual trainings are attended by a variety of community members representing diverse backgrounds and experiences, allowing the trainings to promote a healthy environment for folks to exchange thoughts, experiences, and discourse reflecting their journey toward cultural humility

Individuals in any profession and from any background will benefit from this training and the opportunity to start or continue their journey toward cultural humility.
