Campaign Meeting 2018 – Coming Together To Be the Change

At a United Way of Monroe County community meeting held at Northampton Community College’s Monroe Campus in Tannersville, corporate partners, community leaders, and students and staff from some of Monroe County’s local schools announced the results of their respective United Way campaigns to a packed room of volunteers and supporters. Among those presenting their results, Sanofi Pasteur, the vaccines division of Sanofi, announced the total dollars raised by employees and the company through their annual campaign, a signature local Corporate Social Responsibility Program for
Sanofi Pasteur.

Every year, community members, non-profits, government offices and employees from local corporations unite to raise funds to support community services in Monroe County. Through partnership with the United Way of Monroe County, individuals can set up payroll deductions so that they can set aside a small amount every pay period. When these donations are combined with thousands of others from across the community, United Way and its partners can make a meaningful positive impact in Monroe County. Last year, through the generous support of the community, over 35,000 people were helped in Monroe County through United Way and its partner programs.

Strong workplace campaigns announced at the event included Weiler Abrasives Group and Pocono Mountain School District. The largest workplace campaign came from Sanofi Pasteur, who reported a campaign total of $251,525. This included employee donations to the United Way and its partner agencies, as well as a company match from both Sanofi Pasteur and the Sanofi Foundation for North America. This support from Sanofi Pasteur, whose U.S. headquarters are in Swiftwater, Pa., is United Way of Monroe County’s largest single contributor.

As part of their internal campaign, the Sanofi Pasteur campaign leadership team continued with its “Be the Change” tagline. As a part of Sanofi Pasteur’s annual kick-off event, a team approach to fundraising was highlighted, where employees were encouraged to wear jeans and shirts from their favorite sports teams. The campaign’s financial total is a direct result of collaboration and commitment from its employees, from Sanofi Pasteur and the Sanofi Foundation for North America.

Key volunteers for Sanofi Pasteur’s campaign included:

  • Frank Epifano, vice president, North America & Global Finance Commercial Operations, and Sanofi Pasteur’s United Way executive lead;
  • Ellyn Schindler, director, North America Corporate Social Responsibility, and company campaign coach and board member of the United Way of Monroe County;
  • Pam Reincke, manager, Marketing & Sales Incentive Compensation, and campaign chair;
  • Jennifer Kinsley, deputy director, Clinical Program Management & Business Support, and campaign vice chair;
  • Stephanie Posse, deputy director, Reliability Engineering, and campaign vice chair
  • Kathy Schwartz, deputy director, Customer Experience, and campaign vice chair; and
  • Grace Tobin, deputy director, Public Health Marketing, and campaign vice chair.

“This is my favorite meeting of the year”, said President and CEO of United Way of Monroe County, Michael Albert. “Getting to hear from some of the children and members of the business community who have worked hard to give back to those struggling to make ends meet, make everything we do worthwhile.”

A complete list of supporters for the United Way of Monroe County along with the dollars raised and how they are invested back into the community will be available on the United Way website at the end of the  campaign in March of 2018.
