Pocono Mountains United Way and East Stroudsburg High School South worked together in April to care for our community in a meaningful way. 

Through this partnership, Pocono Mountains United Way purchased and distributed 650 pairs of brand-new pants to local clothing closets across Monroe County. Students from the East Stroudsburg High School South’s Key Club took the lead in sorting, organizing, and preparing the clothing for distribution. Their leadership helped turn a simple purchase into a coordinated community effort. 

“This is a powerful example of students stepping forward to care for others,” said Dr. Maggie Vitale, Superintendent of the East Stroudsburg Area School District. “It reflects the strong connection between our schools and the community, where students learn that service and leadership are part of something larger.” 

Local clothing closets will now ensure these items reach individuals and families who need them most, helping provide comfort, confidence, and dignity. 

“At United Way, we believe caring for our community means meeting people where they are, with respect and purpose,” said Michael Tukeva, President and CEO of Pocono Mountains United Way. “Often this work happens behind the scenes, but it is made possible through strong partnerships like this one.” 

This effort reflects what is possible when students, schools, and community partners come together to serve others.
