The new ALICE Essentials Index report shows that the cost of basic needs like food, housing, and childcare is going up faster than people’s wages. This makes it hard for many families to get by, even when they work hard. For example, childcare workers in Pennsylvania earn more per hour now than they did in 2010, but the cost of living has gone up even more. This means they have less money to cover their basic needs. 

That’s why the work of Pocono Mountains United Way is so important. We are here to help people in our community who are struggling to make ends meet. We offer programs and support to help families become financially stable and secure.
