Generation Next is a college readiness, access, and completion program created to correct disparities in education. The program works with students to achieve college admission, integrate into college life, and complete a post-secondary program. Students receive programming within their high school classrooms that develops essential skills for navigating high school and college, builds their understanding of their self and interactions with others, and prepares them for college or post-secondary education.

Pocono Mountains United Way is launching the Generation Next program, created by Community Action Lehigh Valley, in partnership with Pocono Mountain West High School. The program will be offered to two groups of freshmen and junior high school students at Pocono Mountain West High School beginning on Wednesday, September 14th. The programming will be offered to students as part of their school day and will run for the full academic year. Students engaged in the program will receive in-class instruction from Timera Toppin, Generation Next Coordinator. The program will support students throughout their time in high school and continue this support during their chosen post-secondary education through mentorship and peer-to-peer support.
Students are eligible for the Generation Next program if they meet a minimum of two of the following criteria:

1. Eligible for free/reduced lunch
2. Is a first-generation college student
3. Identify as a person of color

Students enrolled in the Generation Next program will receive enriching lessons focused on social emotional learning, development of soft and hard skills, financial literacy, SAT preparation, as well as fun and educational college trips.
