Pocono Mountains United Way works together with community partners to address complex problems in Monroe County, PA that cannot be solved by any single individual or organization.

For Giving Tuesday this year, PMUW is raising money for our SMILE In-Home Mentoring Program for early childhood development. This program helps ensure that families receive support and resources to give their children learning experiences.

Last year, 18 children and their families received over 480 hours of mentorship in the home. The Early Childhood Educator, the parents, and the child work cooperatively in the home or virtually to help prepare children to enter school ready to learn. This home-visiting program recognizes that parents are children’s first teachers, but sometimes, parents and others who raise children look for help.

During home visits, Early Childhood professionals visit with the families, and children to provide parent education and support, ultimately promoting child health, well-being, learning, and development. With the help of our partners, community leaders, and our nationwide network of resources and shared best practices, Pocono Mountains United Way is creating meaningful impact in our community.
