September 2 to September 9- We are encouraging you to perform Acts of Caring throughout your community. Some Acts of Caring can include:
- Notes of encouragement for seniors
- Creating a senior care package
- Drawing or painting pictures to cheer someone up
- Sharing your vegetable garden with friends
- Decorating bags or placemats for Meals on Wheels
- Making a gift basket for hospital workers, teachers
- Crafting encouraging messages for school students

This year Mountain View Vineyard, Winery & Brewery will be hosting our first ever Summer Festival in the Beer Garden! This FREE event will include LIVE music, food trucks, a wide variety of vendors, and of course, our yard games!

Shawnee Riverfest VIII Free Concert
Free Shawnee Riverfest VIII Concert Back for Another Year
Shawnee on Delaware – Shawnee Riverfest VIII returns on Sunday, July 14, 2019 for a day filled with music, family and fun to support The Pocono Mountains United Way.
The free, 8-Hour concert kicks off at 11:30am on the great lawn of the historic Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort. Over 18 international, national, and local acts will come together to perform and support our community. This year’s roster includes: Chel, Wild Planes, Kayla Nicole, Fusia Dance Company, Brian Jai, Turbo Goth, Pocono Great Talent Event Winner Jocely Berrios, First of June, Grace Morrison, Nik Hartfield, DJ QEUE, Melissa Otero, Jackson Howard, Mandala, Yaniza, Shawnee Playhouse Cast of Hairspray Jr. and Mama Mia, Deanna Badik, and Ariana Hernandez. These talented artists are ready to perform on the stage being set by The Sherman Theater. The event will also have food vendors, auction items, bounce houses, face painting and an outdoor photo booth.
The weekend will also include two other events to support the United Way on July 13th. The Race & Zumba 2 Riverfest Event will take place in the morning at Phoenix Athletica in Pocono Summit and includes a fundraising cycling event on one floor and a Zumba Event on another floor. The Free Riverfest Pre-Party will take place the evening of July 13th at the Sycamore Grille in the Delaware Water Gap where the public and sponsors will get a sneak peek at the talented Riverfest musicians during an intimate evening of fundraising and entertainment.

April 2nd: Film Screening and Panel Discussion of God Knows Where I Am
What: Pocono Mountains United Way, in partnership with WVIA and ESU, and with support from St. Luke’s Monroe Campus, invite the community to the film screening of God Knows Where I Am. The film and panel discussion raise questions of social justice and challenges the audience to think about how our community responds to mental illness and homelessness. This year’s Day of Caring is happening on Thursday, September 6th! This annual event brings together hundreds of community members and employees from local businesses who take a day to volunteer for non-profit community service organizations who are in need of a little help.
If you are a non-profit looking for assistance with a project, or a business looking for a great team building activity for your staff, or a community member who wants to get out and help a local non-profit, and learn more about the great work our community organizations are doing in Monroe County; then Day of Caring is for you.

Why: Join us for our annual breakfast meeting where we will be presenting this year’s Community Investments. We will also take this time to provide an update on our community’s progress related to our Impact Initiatives: Access to Healthy Food, Support for Working Families, and Help When Needed Most.
In addition, we will be presenting one of our most prestigious awards, the Dr. Joseph and Dr. Rose Mattioli Philanthropy Award to Pat Ross. Day of Action: Book Drive
United Way of Monroe County is partnering with Read Across Monroe to encourage summer learning for children in Monroe County this summer. There are three different ways you can get involved:
1. DONATE BOOKS: We are looking for new or gently used children’s and young adult books to be donated. The book drive will run from June 1st through June 26th. Books can be dropped off at any of the following four locations in Monroe County:

Women United is a new initiative focused on mobilizing the power of women to create positive change in our community. At the last Women United meeting, the group agreed that single mothers would form the focus of the group’s efforts for the immediate future.

Hunger and Food Insecurity in our community is a multi-faceted and complex problem. No one organization, institution, business, government leader, or individual has the power to solve this problem alone. Together, we can strive to impact the lives of our neighbors struggling with hunger through our collective efforts in a meaningful way.
