PA Library Association
Serves as the advocate and voice for Pennsylvania’s libraries–its librarians, support staff, trustees and friends. Sponsors a state conference, chapter meetings and other professional development and educational opportunities through divisions and round tables and in cooperation with other library organizations and the Office of Commonwealth Libraries. Publishes the PaLA Bulletin 10 times per year and an annual membership directory of colleagues working in all types of libraries across the state. Awards scholarships and continuing education grants. Sponsors state legislative activities and participates in national efforts in cooperation with other state and national library organizations. Monitors and informs members about state and federal library issues. Maintains a 24 hr jobline for employment listings. Provides numerous networking opportunities to meet with peers and expand the circle of valuable library contacts through state, regional, and local activities. Promotes eduation and information sharing for library support staff. Fights censorship. Honors outstanding library service through award programs. Foster library service through award programs. Promotes lifelong learning and literacy. Promotes Pennsylvania libraries through association activities and exhibits at state and national conferences.
