Monroe County Waste Authority
The Monroe County Municipal Waste Management Authority is the lead agency responsible for implementing the Municipal Waste Planning, Recycling, and Waste Reduction Act, known as Act 101. The Waste Authority also operates multiple recycling drop off centers throughout the County in which residents can dispose of their recycling, free of charge. They also offer an electronics recycling program for county residents at their facility in Blakeslee. The recycling programs include CFL and Florescent bulbs, electronics and tires. The Waste Authority also enforces the county’s solid waste ordinance and the Authority’s rules and regulations to make sure all persons and haulers comply with the county plan. The Waste Authority also provides a service for pickup, removal and disposal of deer from the County’s roadways.
